Senator Shehu Sani, who formerly represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, expressed his disagreement on Friday with President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial nomination of Nasir El-Rufai.
El-Rufai, the Kaduna State Governor, is among four former governors on the 28-member list forwarded to the Senate by President Tinubu. The list includes Nyesom Wike, Dave Umahi, and Abubakar Badaru.
The former lawmaker criticised Tinubu for nominating El-Rufai as a minister in his cabinet. Tinubu’s government is inviting trouble and danger by appointing El-Rufai, who has a history of plotting against Shettima and planting discord between the two.
El-Rufai will meddle in every ministry in the government, including Works and Aviation. He has a history of causing rifts with the ministers of aviation and agriculture, as well as the Head of Service, Yayale Ahmed.
Sani accused El-Rufai of setting Obasanjo against the National Assembly leadership, claiming his presence in Tinubu’s government would repeat itself.
Tinubu’s first set of nominations was overshadowed by politicians, including ex-governors and former members of the Senate and House of Representatives. 25% of the nominees are women, while 75% are men.
