The Ondo State Police Command, on Saturday, mentioned it has begun efforts, in collaboration with the Nigerian Military, to fish out a solder who allegedly killed a dealer in Akure, the state capital.
It was gathered that the yet-to-be recognized soldier allegedly stabbed the dealer to demise on the widespread Arakale Market in Akure on Saturday following an argument that ensued between them.
The incident was mentioned to have triggered a protest by the colleagues of the deceased on the market however the scenario was introduced underneath management by the lads of the state police command.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, mentioned efforts had been ongoing to arrest the soldier.
Odunlami mentioned, “Sure, the police can verify the stabbing of a younger man by a soldier. The command is in contact with the army authority in order that the offender(s) may be recognized and arrested”
A supply available in the market narrated that the soldier mobilised his colleagues to forcefully get refund of the cash he paid to the deceased for an unsatisfactory service, resulting in an argument between them.
The supply mentioned, “I feel the soldier and the dealer (deceased) had an argument over service rendered by the dealer. I feel the solder was not happy with the service and he requested for a refund.
“That was when the difficulty began. Later, the solder mobilised his colleagues and the arguments continued. It was there the dealer was stabbed by one of many troopers, after which they left the scene.”
The supply added that the incident led to a protest as the opposite merchants available in the market barricaded the Arakale Highway, stopping vehicular actions.
It took the intervention of policemen to clear the street.
