Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Imo State governors refuse to bow to disruptors in the southeast zone. This comes after IPOB leader Simon Ekpa threatened a two-week sit-at-home period from July 31st to August 14th. Simon Ekpa declared a sit-at-home from Monday, July 31, 2023, to Friday, August 4, 2023, with a total lockdown in Biafraland.
The Anambra government responded, saying it wouldn’t yield to non-state actors. The government called Ekpa a fugitive and advised people to ignore him. Aburime stated that Anambra State, led by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, will not comply with the illegal sit-at-home order from non-state actors. Simon Ekpa, described as a fugitive and troublemaker, should be ignored by the citizens of Anambra and the whole South East. Unauthorized sit-at-home orders are illegal. Anambra State disregards any order from Simon Ekpa. Our markets, schools, businesses, and social activities are unaffected. Anambra State won’t tolerate anarchy, fear, or lawlessness.

An Enugu State government official labelled Simon Ekpa a villain and criminal, stating that residents would not listen to him. The official added that the illegal sit-at-home in Enugu has ended. Although unnamed, the official cautioned Ekpa’s criminal associates against challenging the government, as they may not survive. Illegal sit-at-home in Enugu has ceased. Criminals must find new occupations. He doesn’t support Nnamdi Kanu or IPoB, as they have rejected him multiple times. “Call him what he is ‘a terrorist’, a criminal. Don’t associate him with IPoB; he’s simply a criminal.” ” He warned that security operatives will teach any co-criminals testing the Government’s will, and they have been warned.
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State stated that there is no sit-at-home policy in the state. He made this declaration after attending a meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and South East zone leaders at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja. Gov. Nwifuru called last week’s events in Ebonyi a case of miscreants trying to instil fear and disrupt businesses. I’m surprised to hear about a sit-at-home order because that doesn’t exist in Ebonyi. We never stayed at home, and you know it.
