Bashir Aliyu, who spoke on behalf of the suspended lawmakers, said they’d not be silenced until action was taken to tame the excessive degree of insecurity in Zamfara.
He mentioned that after they moved to impact adjustments within the meeting management, they did so to draw attention to the alleged, extended absence of the Speaker and his deputy from the state.
Nevertheless, he mentioned some forces within the state had since been hounding them as an alternative to working to secure the state.
He added that a few of the suspended lawmakers had been attacked by thugs linked to a politician within the state in the course of the wedding ceremony of the Deputy Governor’s daughter on 24 February.
He mentioned a letter with Reference No. ZMHA/ADM/223/Vol. 1, dated March 7, which has now directed them to return the official automobiles in their care to the Clerk of the state Meeting within seven days.
Aliyu, representing the Gumi 1 constituency, mentioned, “We need to notify you that democracy is in peril in Zamfara State regardless of the prevailing insecurity and different challenges bedevilling the folks of the state.
“We, therefore, name for the intervention of key stakeholders to salvage the state of affairs.”
