President Tinubu says he refuses to support the enemies causing economic hardship in the country. He strongly criticizes the oil subsidy regime, calling it a joke that must be stopped immediately.
The president mentioned this on Thursday at a Lagos State Government reception, emphasizing the need for resources to fulfill our campaign promises to Nigerians. “We must halt the financial bleeding from fuel subsidies and arbitrary exchange rates. No alternative.” “We need to improve resource control and management to meet our obligations to Nigerians. I could have agreed to benefit from and participate in arbitrage.” “No, God forbid. That’s not why you elected me,” he said. The president promised new and improved initiatives for Nigerians, including the future generation. Tinubu vowed to collaborate with the national assembly and state governors to achieve his administration’s hope agenda. Sen. Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, vowed to collaborate with the executive to guarantee Nigerians’ democratic benefits. “The president’s actions in Lagos affirm Nigeria’s safety.”

“We wouldn’t have contested the party primaries if we had known this was your plan for the country. Your decisions have greatly contributed to the country’s development,” he said. Akpabio praised Lagos as a development model for Nigeria, stating that the person behind its success can replicate it for the entire country. Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State affirmed the full support of state governors for the current administration’s policies and programs. He emphasized the significance of this support in achieving a better Nigeria. Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara stated that the state governors support Tinubu’s urgent efforts to reposition the country’s economy.
“The removal of the petroleum subsidy and reversal of the arbitrary exchange regime was the right step in repositioning the country,” said AbdulRazaq, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum. Former governor of Lagos, Raji Fashola, representing past Lagos state governors, assured the president of their continued loyalty to the Tinubu administration. “We’re just a call away. Whenever you need us, for any class you’ve mentored, we’re here to help,” he said. The members of the national assembly and governors stood with current and former members to show solidarity with the president on the podium.
