During a special prayer event organized by the Jam’iyyatu Ansariddeen Attijaniyya of Nigeria in Lagos State, Vice President Kashim Shettima reassured that the current administration is committed to protecting the rights of all Nigerians, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.
The event, held in honor of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, highlighted the importance of inclusivity and respect for religious freedom in a nation with a diverse population exceeding 200 million, characterized by religious and ethnic diversity.
In his keynote address on the theme, “Searching For A Compass In A Multicultural World,” Shettima emphasized the duty to ensure that every Nigerian can freely practice their religion without fear or discrimination. He commended the efforts of the Jam’iyyatu Ansariddeen Attijaniyya in promoting peaceful coexistence among different religious communities.
Calling for collective action, Shettima stressed the imperative to construct a nation founded on the principles of compassion, justice, and fairness. The President General of Jam’iyyatu Ansariddeen (Attijjaniyya), Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, urged various sectors, including politicians, the business community, religious scholars, and traditional rulers, to focus on “Project Nigeria” and collaborate in the rebuilding of the nation.
Additionally, the International Secretary of Jam’iyyatu Ansariddeen (Attijjaniyya) Worldwide, Sheikh Mohammed Lamin Inyass, underscored the importance of unity within the Muslim community. He emphasized that Islam commands all Muslims to honor humanity, irrespective of tribe or religion.
