The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has asked the Police, notably Inspector Normal Kayode Egbetokun, to weed out unhealthy officers from the pressure.
This was as he pledged complete cooperation and assistance at the Nationwide Meeting for higher policing of Nigeria.
Akpabio mentioned this at the maiden Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony, which was held on Monday night in Abuja.
The Senate President recommended the Inspector Normal of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and all the management of the Nigeria Police Drive to organise the occasion and urged them to make use of the event to have fun the achievements of the Nigeria Police Drive and to reiterate the dedication to working collectively for a safer and extra secured Nigeria.
He said, “I commend the Police for this maiden effort in organising this awards ceremony. It’s a testimony to IGP Egbetokun’s dedication to giving honour to whom it’s due.

In addition, Akpabio added that the Police Drive wants the assistance of all stakeholders within the nation for efficient service supply.
He added, “The Police want the assistance and cooperation of all stakeholders to beat these challenges and construct a more robust and straightforward Police Drive.
“I congratulate the awardees who’ve excelled in their respective fields of policing. Their dedication, bravery, and integrity have set them apart and made them deserving of this recognition.
“I commend each one of them for his or her excellent efficiency and dedication to our nation’s service. I urge them to remember that to whom a lot is given, a lot is anticipated.
Along with the awards given on varied facets of policing, posthumous awards in memorial recognition of the fallen heroes were to the seven police personnel killed at Ugheli forest in Delta State on 20 February 2024.
Representatives of the households of the deceased acquired the awards in addition to cheques for his or her entitlements.
Akpabio, while making the presentation of the posthumous awards on behalf of the Nigeria Police, introduced that he would assist every one of the households with a million naira to pay their means again house whereas the Senate as an establishment dedicated to supporting the families of the deceased with N20 million.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf also announced a donation of N20 million to assist the households of the deceased.
The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, recommended the Senate President and Kano State Governor for their “presence of empathy” for the affected households.
